The theme of revenge is developed throughout Hamlet's five acts primarily through the words and actions of Hamlet and young Fortinbras. Hamlet learns that his father has been murdered by Claudius and then decides he must avenge his father’s death. Young Fortinbras chooses that he must recapture the lost land that King Hamlet had seized from his deceased father. By the end of the play, violence and vengeance take control over the characters and cause tension letting to a deadly feud.
